19 skincare tips for beginners (that don’t cost a dime)

Ready to ditch the filters and embrace your natural glow? Then this blogs for you. Whether you want a bold makeup look or a natural one, we all want smooth, glowing skin. That’s why skincare is for everyone. Even the All-natural women who refuse to wear makeup use skincare products to achieve a soft and healthy shine.

My skin used to be a disaster zone. Late nights, stress, junk food - it showed. But soon I developed a strong skincare routine, and after time the oil and acne went away.

When I first tried out skincare, my first thought was “This is overwhelming! Cleansers, toners, serums - where do I even start?” But after reading countless skincare blogs, tutorials, products recommendations, and ticktock hacks, I finally got the hang of it (do you research - it pays off).

You might be thinking, “skin problems suck, but skincare's just too complicated.” That’s why I made this blog. I figure since I did so much research (not only about skincare. Beauty, hair, scents - pretty much anything that will help make you more attractive) I might as well help other people who are struggling with their skin navigate through the wide world of skincare.

(Remember, skincare isn’t only for our faces, but our bodies too!)

Here are some skincare tips you can do from home without any products
  • Even skincare novices have probably heard that water is great for you. It nourishes your hair, helps your nails grow, plumps your skin, and keeps you hydrated inside and out. Aim for eight cups a day.
  • Eat water-rich foods. Not thirsty? Water-rich foods have the same effect as just drinking water, so if you would rather eat than drink or simply do both these are a great choice. Fruits and vegetables like cucumber, watermelon, and spinach are packed with moisture.
  • No matter how much you love them, it is important to limit your caffeine and alcohol. These dehydrate your skin, contributing to dullness and dryness.
  • Hot showers and baths feel amazing, but they can strip your skin of its natural oils. Use lukewarm water instead, and keep your showers short to keep your barrier happy
  • Make sure to get enough sleep. As simple as it sounds, it works. When you’re well-rested, your skin shows it. Aim for 7-8 hours every night.
  • Try to manage your stress. Stress hormones can wreak havoc on your skin. Try meditation, yoga, or deep breathing.
  • Change your pillowcases regularly. Cotton absorbs moisture and oil from your face, leading to breakouts.
  • Massages work magic.Give your face a gentle massage to promote lymphatic drainage and improve blood flow.
  • Exercise increases blood flow, bringing oxygen and nutrients to your skin cells. Dance, run, do yoga - find your happy sweat.
  • Don’t touch your face. Your hands are covered in bacteria. Touching your face can lead to breakouts and irritation. Resist the urge to pick or squeeze pimples.
  • Sunshine is the key, but not too much. Get 10-15 minutes of daily sunlight for Vitamin D, but avoid harsh midday sun to prevent damage.
  • Steam your face. Hold your face directly above a bowl of steaming water to open pores and release impurities.
  • Minimize your makeup. Let your skin breathe whenever possible. Go makeup-free on weekends or wear a tinted moisturizer for light coverage.
  • Clean your makeup brushes. A lot of us don’t realize it, but cleaning our brushes and sponges affects are skin. They harbor bacteria that can clog pores and cause breakouts. Wash them weekly with gentle soap and water.
  • Wash your face twice a day, but don’t overdo it. Over washing can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation.
  • Pat your face dry, don’t rub. Rubbing can damage your delicate skin. Instead, pat dry with a clean towel.
  • Sleep on your back. Sleeping on your face or side can cause wrinkles or breakouts. Train yourself to sleep on your back.
  • Ice your face. Reduce puffiness and inflammation with an ice cube wrapped in a cloth.
  • Spooning for under eye relief. Place two cold spoons over your closed eyelid for a few minutes. The coolness constricts blood vessels and helps reduce inflammation, leaving your eyes feeling refreshed and revitalized.
